Gruboceros (both singular and plural) are massive, fleshy, 20' long insects with thick, undulating bodies that reach 6'-7' off the ground. They wander savannahs and plains, lazily grazing on grasses and tubers.
Though usually docile, gruboceros herds Charge and/or Trample when threatened....and stampede when panicked. The creatures can also secrete an odious Class 11 paralytic fluid. [While the game effects are the same, it isn't so much Paralysis proper as it is "predators spend 2d6 rounds hacking, spitting, and scraping their tongues to get the foul taste from their mouths".]
Gruboceros are frequently utilized as beasts of burden.
Mutations: Dermal Poison Slime
Another classic, as a concept and for that design. Thinking of these being used to pull a plough say is just weird, but in a very reasonable way, as if it's really just a step away.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's always a pleasure when you drop by.
ReplyDeleteAnd, yeah...they would look kinda "natural" with a yoke and plough attached, wouldn't they?
I don't know what it is, but looking again now it just works for me. Maybe the pose, which is just spot on, a very matter-of-fact bulky presence, but with the suggestion of speed. Maybe also the way all the elements and textures go together, and are quite subtle individually, and the interest in those details. The concept is very simple, a logical mix and easy to grasp, so that could be part of it too. Whatever, the talent shines through.
