As The Ancients traversed the cosmos and explored distant worlds, water was perhaps the most precious of resources...

...WHICH PROVED QUITE DEADLY TO PROCURE WHEN INHABITED BY AMPHIBIOUS FREAKS WITH A HUNGER FOR HUMAN FLESH!!!

The yabbex are bipedal crustaceoids with thick carapaces, portly builds, and long, stringy manes.  They lurk in the rocky outcroppings of freshwater rivers and lakes to better spy on shorebound targets, and then ambush those that enter the water.  Yabbex attack from the depths, Surprising on a roll of 1-4 on 1d6.  Anyone targeting a submerged yabbex with a ranged weapon suffers a -2 To Hit penalty.

Yabbex sport two massive pincers that disarm targets on a natural To Hit roll of 18-20.

Mutations:  None

Artifact:  Spectrum Gun

A spectrum gun emits waves of "chromatic radiation" that alter the colorations of everything targeted—people, objects, environs—to a uniform hue of the wielder's choosing (as long as it's green, red, blue, or yellow, that is).

Yep, that's all it does.

The effect encompasses a 20' radius at a range up to 20', and lasts 2d10 rounds.  Each gun carries a battery with 10d10 charges.

(Some Mutant Lords may rule that sudden color shifts grant a bonus to Surprise and/or Initiative rolls, or cause those with color blindness to suffer penalties.)

Devastation Drive-In 3-D — 'Hell Island' aka 'Attack Of The Beast Creatures' (1985)

Zunee

No. Enc.:  0 (12d12)
Alignment:  Chaotic
Movement:  180' (60')
Armor Class:  3
Hit Dice:  3 hp
Attacks:  2 (2 bites)
Damage:  1d6 / 1d6
Save:  L1
Morale:  12
Hoard Class:  VI
XP:  10

The Ancients considered themselves masters of their planet, having mapped out its entire surface and cataloged every known species and jungle tribe...

...but on a mysterious island invisible to all technology, they discovered a people unlike any other...

...A RACE OF DIMINUTIVE DWARVES WITH A SAVAGE APPETITE FOR HUMAN FLESH!!!

The zunee (singular and plural) are stunted, foot-tall humanoids with stringy black hair, rubbery orange hides, oversized heads, and luminous eyes devoid of irises and pupils.  They live arboreal existences in toxic jungles rife with acidic pools, and seemingly never sleep.  All zunee look identical, and appear to be male, making their reproductive habits a mystery.

Zunee are rapacious carnivores.  Frighteningly speedy and ferocious, they attack as 5 HD monsters.  Zunee are also incredibly spry, making standing leaps of 15' and scaling vertical surfaces at full movement rate.

The zunee fearlessly attack large groups of adventurers.  They first engage in solo hit-and-run attacks for several hours, bursting from the underbrush to weaken and demoralize their prey before pouncing en masse from the treetops above.  And they tirelessly chase down fleeing victims.  Zunee kills are skeletonized in minutes.

Anyone bitten by a zunee has a 20% chance of contracting rabies [p. 48 of the Mutant Future Core Rules], but the resultant Saving Throw Vs Poison gets a +2 bonus to the roll to avoid the effects.

Though clearly intelligent (based on their woven skirts, idol worship, and ambush tactics), every effort at peaceful contact with the zunee has ended in mayhem and bloodshed.

Mutations:  Dwarfism, Enhanced Vision (Night Vision), Increased Balance, Toxic Weapon ("Rabid")

Devastation Drive-In 3-D — 'The Angry Red Planet' (1959)

As The Ancients took to the stars and explored new worlds, they cataloged wondrous flora and fauna never before seen...

...AND BEING UNSEEN IS HOW FOUR-STORY-TALL SPIDER-RODENTS BROUGHT DEATH AND DESTRUCTION TO MANY AN EXPLORER!!!

Rabachnids are towering, 40' monstrosities that prowl alien forests and jungles.  Their shaggy, vermin-like bodies sit atop spindly, arthropoidal legs, and their massive heads are all eyes and ears and teeth.  Grasping claws, scissoring pincers, and sinuous tails complete the nightmarish melange.

Despite their freakish appearances and massive builds, rabachnids are extremely stealthy, Surprising on a 1-5 on 1d6 in overgrown areas.  And even if encountered in flat, barren terrain, a rabachnid still manages to hide in plain sight by standing still, giving the appearance that it's just a copse of native trees—observers are bewilderingly oblivious to the clawed, fanged, furry horror before and/or above them.  This is apparently accomplished by a broad Mental Phantasm that automatically targets anyone (as if from a Willpower of 16) within a 3 mile radius.  The effect even works through optical-based sensory equipment.

The Ancients brought some rabachnids back to Earth for display in wondrous xenozoos, but the creatures have long since escaped into the wilds of the Mutant Future.

Mutations:  Mental Phantasm (Modified)
