If it's not "Failed author using a game as an excuse to narrate his fan-wankery", it's "GM phoning in a game just to get his 70 player-hours and free badge/hotel room." I've heard a few complaints about rogue GMs and, because you're playing $$$ to play these games, it stands that disgruntled players should have a recourse in a refund or at least lodging a complaint. The fact this guy plans to do it again at Gen Con 2012 lets me think that there should be some system in place to warn The Powers That Be that they do NOT want this guy running games.

Sorry for the block o' text, but dwelling on this kinda pissed me off.Tim Sniderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17390608104314125626noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7022098939404921421.post-11481772200011241992011-08-17T11:35:43.685-05:002011-08-17T11:35:43.685-05:00Wow, what a waste of game time. Then he told you how screwed over you were.

The experience sounded and was awful. The finale being an exercise in mental masturbation for the GM caps off the whole wretched experience. It's experiences like this that can turn off new players to the whole experience of playing RPGs.Padrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05722958681098483324noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7022098939404921421.post-71378736125883074582011-08-16T02:51:47.773-05:002011-08-16T02:51:47.773-05:00Oh! And I forgot why this post reminded me of that, in that the finale involved an interminable monologue from the NPC protagonist about his meth addiction and how this death would provide some kind of redemption, etc. etc.

I hated not having any aptitude at excusing myself from that table then.Jaysonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03652611193354218021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7022098939404921421.post-86402077798708955652011-08-16T02:49:20.063-05:002011-08-16T02:49:20.063-05:00I wonder how often it is the GM simply ends up nar...I wonder how often it is the GM simply ends up narrating his failed novel/screenplay/comic at the table. I know it's happened to me.

I REALLY should have been warned when the GM in question graciously let us in on the fact that he was widely recognized as running one of the best games at that con several years running. Then launched into a story that featured an NPC Asian-American FBI agent who carried a katana wherever she went.Jaysonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03652611193354218021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7022098939404921421.post-63888261827505471612011-08-15T22:54:49.303-05:002011-08-15T22:54:49.303-05:00Wow.
